So, apart from the speaking and writing models I\u2019d shared earlier, I wanted to leave them with an evergreen communication framework they could modify for different contexts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, there I stood in class, and after some banter, including a few light-hearted comments on their relief that I would no longer give writing assignments, I turned to the matter at hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I was going to share another simple framework, I told them, that would sharpen their communication, increase their persuasiveness and help them adapt to various audiences when working across borders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then I broke it down on the Zoom whiteboard to illustrate, in practical terms, how to use the framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What followed was a robust discussion about the usefulness of the Flexible Communications Strategy\u2122(FCS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then, when an executive in the oil industry shared how one of the framework\u2019s components mirrored a standard communication practice in their organisation, I nodded because I immediately understood why. The principal premise of the FCS is its flexibility, which ensures that every professional can customise it to their level, including those in the early stages of their careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For you in particular, a senior professional, executive or leader, the FCS becomes a potent tool for influence. Yet, when you consider them as links in an integrated system \u2014 with one component answering the so-what question before leading to the next \u2014 you understand why the strongest feature of this framework is its adaptability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Below are two areas where the FCS shines and how you can apply it for your next (high-stakes) communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:38px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1) The Flexible Communications Strategy\u2122 as a system for report writing and project briefings<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:21px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I first <a href=\"https:\/\/lucilleossai.com\/blog\/2012\/03\/24\/communications-strategy-paving-the-way-to-a-healthy-corporate-image\/\">developed this framework in&nbsp;2012<\/a>, and explored how it could be applied in corporate communications. This Rule is essential when providing updates on &#8216;living&#8217; documents such as reports, project briefings, and other papers because it ensures the completeness and persuasiveness of your documentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:36px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Using the 3-Step Rule of the FCS to boost clarity and increase influence<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:22px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step I: Build the Flexible Communications Strategy<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For a key initiative or project, ensure you address all six components in your communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Structure and format the report using the <a href=\"https:\/\/lucilleossai.com\/blog\/2026\/01\/31\/the-blueprint-of-influence-a-simple-two-step-structure-to-sharpen-your-writing\">2-Step Writing Blueprint<\/a>, then choose appropriate visuals to reduce dense text and improve retention. For regular updates, a concise one-pager will suffice to provide an overview of what is pertinent.
